Hotel Indy is the only Tribute Portfolio Marriott property in the state of Indiana. The hotel is located in downtown Indy, just steps away from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Monument Circle, and the Indiana Convention Center. The Brutalist architecture is preserved within the space while being enhanced by mid-century modern interior and decor. The concrete and metal exterior is offset by soft and rounded edges indoors for a warm and inviting space.

This reimagined "concrete cube" came to life in 1969 as the State Life Insurance building. In 2019 KennMar purchased the building from Riley Bennet & Egloff LLP and began development on Hotel Indy. The Brutalist architecture has been preserved on the exterior, while the interior incorporates midcentury-modern design. A 6th floor has been added to build the rooftop lounge and add 15 more guest rooms.

The Hulman pays tribute to Tony Hulman who purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1945 to avoid closure after World War II. The Hulman family maintained the property until 2020 and their legacy lives on in Indianapolis and the restaurant through a timeless and authentic spirit. The globe inspired light fixture above the bar pays homage to the Globe Outlet store that was on the same site as Hotel Indy in the 1920s. Gather out on The Paddock, our courtyard and bar, to take in the sights and sounds of the city. Our private dining room is named The 1945 after the year the Hulman-George family purchased the Speedway and can accommodate all of your private dining needs from birthday parties to business meetings and more. 

Indy's newest premiere rooftop lounge has expansive views of the Wholesale District and serves up Indy-inspired cocktails using locally distilled and brewed products. Inspired by free spirited independent icons like Erwin "Cannonball" Baker, The Cannon Ball Lounge is a dynamic space to gather and sip amongst the skyline. Let the express elevator take you from the first to sixth floor and enjoy the view.

In the 1800s, downtown Indianapolis was divided into blocks. The block that Hotel Indy sits on was called the Brandon Block. Our hotel is bringing the past into the present by naming our coffee bar The Brandon. This outlet will feature local specialty coffee roasted by Tinker Coffee Co. and will also have non-espresso based drinks like tea and matcha.

Our two meeting spaces located on the lower level will be the perfect place to host your next business meeting, reception, or banquet. Host an event in our larger space (752 sq. ft.), Icon, paying homage to Indy icons like Madame C.J. Walker and Major Taylor. Hold a board meeting in Rebel, our smaller space (394 sq. ft.), named for figures like Steve McQueen and James Dean.

Hotel Indy intentionally honors and appreciates the Hoosiers who have created lasting impacts in our city and beyond.

Thanks to the expertise and attention to detail of businesses like KennMar, Ratio Design and ESG Architecture, the mid-century modern designs of Hotel Indy have come to life. KennMar has been passionate about revitalizing and repurposing existing buildings since their beginning. Ratio Design and ESG Architecture have been instrumental in translating ideas into reality and making Hotel Indy the most uncommon and sophisticated experience.

All around our property, guests can see artwork from local or up and coming artists. The artwork in the lobby hallway features a piece by Kendra Moore.The artwork in the rooms were all provided by art consultant Soho Myriad to breathe life into our spaces and create moments to stop and reflect. A large variety of furniture and carpet were custom designed by ESG. The globe-shaped lighting in the hallway between The Hulman and The 1945 was sourced from Restoration Hardware.

Local Black artist Derrick Carter has created an all-encompassing Indy mural for our property that displays over 200 years of Indiana history. Carter's art speaks conversations through emotions and feelings which gives viewers a better sense of understanding based on how the art relates to themselves. Through this visual representation of Indiana history, Hotel Indy aims to reflect on the past and find ways to understand our future.

Hotel Indy is proud to represent and support all things local, including the partners that we use in and around the property. Our bars in The Hulman and The Cannon Ball Lounge were made just down the road at Customer Interior Dynamic in Fountain Square. We also utilize local partners in our restaurant and bar like Garcia Gardens, Hotel Tango, Gallery Pastry Bar, Fischer Farms, West Fork Whiskey, Smoking Goose, Just Pop In!, and Bier Brewery.
